Naracoorte World Heritage Listed Caves

The Naracoorte Caves have been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, a recognition reserved for places of exceptional cultural or natural significance. This status  alone makes them a must-visit destination. The caves contain one of the world's most extensive and diverse fossil records of ancient life, including megafauna (large prehistoric animals), as well as smaller mammals, birds, and reptiles. Take a guided tour through the magnificent Victoria Fossil Cave. Your knowledgeable guide will share insights into the accumulation of bones in the caves, excavation techniques and the prestigious World Heritage Listing.

Coonawarra Wine Region

 Unveil the Secrets of Coonawarra Wine Region a wine region known for its red wine production. With over 25 wine cellar doors to choose from you can select the wineries of your choice to explore the rich history and flavours of Coonawarra  and taste exceptional wines all while surrounded by the beauty of the Coonawarra Wine Region.

Example Itinerary - Caves to Wine Tour

Pick up from your accommodation in  Penola /Coonawarra approx 9am

Naracoorte Caves World Heritage Listed Site.   9.30 - 11.30am

Visit the stunning World Heritage Listed site and  walk through the  Wonambi Fossil Centre where you will experience a step back in time to discover what Naracoorte was like over 200,000 years ago. 

Victorian Fossil Cave Tour is  where you will walk through thee magnificent speleothem chamber ( stalactites, stalagmites and helectites ) on the way to the Fossil chamber. Your guide will tell you all about the accumulation of bones in the caves, excavation techniques, current research and World Heritage listing. and then down to  the Victorian Fossil Cave for a  guided tour. The Victoria Fossil Cave showcases the World Heritage features of the park. It is recognised the world over for its outstanding scientific value.

Drive 25 minutes down to Coonawarra. WIne Tasting from approx 12.40 - 5pm

 1st Winery - Parkers ,Brand's Laira Coonawarra  or Di Giorgio Wines 

                       Wine tasting and lunch break.  (Produce Platters available at all three wineries approx $25pp)

2nd Winery - Balnaves of Coonawarra or Patricks Estate

3rd WInery -  Kanook or Leconfield WInery.

4th Winery -  Wynns Coonawarra or Rymills of Coonawarra

Photo Shoot to end the day at the renowned Coonawarra Railroad Siding. Arguably one of the most recognisable landmarks in the wine world, the Coonawarra Railway Siding is has become one of the most photographed sites in South Australia!

At the end of the day after a long and exciting full day tour you will travel back to your accommodation in PenolaCoonawarra  by 5.30pm.

Please note that the cost of the Victorian Fossil Cave tour, food options and wine tasting fees are not included in the price of the tour.

Lunch options can vary from bringing your own lunch to picnic or produce platters provided by the wineries along with wine tasting.
